Brief information about Fergana State University
Fergana State University was founded in 1930 as the Fergana State Pedagogical Institute. Fergana State Pedagogical Institute is considered one of the largest and most prestigious higher educational institutions not only in the Fergana Valley, but also in Uzbekistan.
On March 1, 1991, a decision was made to establish a new higher educational institution - a university on the basis of the Pedagogical Institute in the city of Fergana. Thus, on the eve of the declaration of independence, the first university in the valley and the fourth in the Republic - Fergana State University was established.
Currently, the university has 13 faculties, 48 departments, and is training personnel in 60 undergraduate and 34 master's specialties. The total number of professors and teachers is 997, 61 are doctors of sciences, 294 are candidates of sciences (PhD), associate professors, and the scientific potential is 36%. The total number of students is 31,840, of which 37 are foreign students. The number of master's students is 1,538.
Over the past 2 years, 5 departments, 7 bachelor's degree programs,
4 master's degree programs have been newly established.
In the 2021-2022 academic year, a 3+1 joint educational program was organized between Fergana State University and Kazan Federal University (KFU) in the bachelor's degree program in philology and language teaching: Russian language. 30 students are studying within this program.
In 2023, the university established a joint faculty of agriculture in cooperation with the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE). On June 6-7, 2023, the first international forum between the two universities was held.
Starting from the 2023-2024 academic year, a joint department (Uzbekistan-China Joint Department of Archaeology) is being established in cooperation with the Northwest University of the People's Republic of China and the Archaeological Research University of Luoyang.
In 2022 and 2023, the university's professors and teachers published 61 textbooks, 117 textbooks, 224 teaching aids, 300 monographs, and obtained 157 copyright certificates and 4 patents for inventions.
89 projects were won by the university's professors and teachers in grants announced by republican and foreign organizations.
In 2022, 28 professors and teachers and 6 students were awarded State Awards.
The Center for Gender Equality Studies was launched at Fergana State University. The “Bolajon” innovation center was also established. The “Nilufar” theater studio hall was renovated and its activities were reorganized. A special area equipped for the intellectual game “Zakovat” was organized at the university and its regular activities were established.
Sufficient conditions have been created for students' study and research in a 200-seat library, study halls, and an information resource center. In 2021, a “Book Cafe” with 150 seats and a WiFi zone was built for students' use.
In 2023, Fergana State University signed a total of 12 memorandums of understanding with foreign higher education institutions. The number of memorandums and cooperation agreements signed by the university with foreign higher education institutions has reached 90.
In 2023, 50 professors and teachers from prestigious foreign higher education institutions were involved in the educational process by the university's departments within the framework of international programs and mutual cooperation.
In January-May of this year, 40 professors and teachers of the university conducted training courses at prestigious TOP 1000 higher education institutions in the world.
To date, 12 professors and teachers of the university have been sent to foreign higher education institutions for advanced training and internship courses. In January-May of this year, 21 professors and teachers of the university participated in international conferences. The total number of students under the academic exchange program is 5. Currently, a total of 37 foreign students are studying at Fergana State University. 36 bachelor's students, 1 doctoral student.
